Parent Involvement
The Williamson County Youth Orchestra is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with many opportunities for parents to plug in! We’ve undergone significant changes during the fall in the hope of improving the experience that we offer each student.
Our parent volunteers are an important part of our future. Because of the limited rehearsal time each week and the numerous tasks needed to help each group run well, parent involvement will be a key part of our groups.
At our Student/Parent meeting on January 8, we’ll explain more about how you can volunteer. The list below contains some of the current needs. If you would like to volunteer with the items listed below or would like to suggest an activity where your skills could be useful, please contact your group’s director.
Click here for specific information on how you can be involved.
Severe Weather Policy
The Youth Orchestra and Junior Orchestra have rehearsal on all of the scheduled dates on their Spring Calendar, regardless of legal holidays, WCS holidays, focus days, etc. Click on Schedule for a downloadable one page calendar.
The Youth Orchestra and Junior Orchestra will not have rehearsals if
- School is cancelled on the day of rehearsal because of bad weather by Williamson County Schools
- School is dismissed early on the day of rehearsal because of bad weather by Williamson County Schools
Private Study Teachers
For every student to reach their potential, individual private study is essential. Rehearsal time in the Youth Orchestra and Junior Orchestra will be primarily spent on training relevant to the entire group. A private teacher can evaluate the individual needs of each student and join them in a study of music designed to help them progress as quickly as possible.
There are a number of excellent teachers in Williamson County who will partner with us to develop the best in every student. To receive information about appropriate local teachers who can work with your child, please contact the directors.
